SARS\u2011CoV\u20112 is a highly contagious respiratory virus.<\/p><p>The existing mRNA vaccine is essentially being used at the wrong site: in the muscle, instead of at the main entry point of the coronavirus \u2014 the mucous membranes.<\/p><p>An intramuscular vaccination stimulates a <b>systemic immune response<\/b>, which primarily takes place in the bloodstream.
